Point Edward road reconstruction traffic plan changes announced

A traffic plan change for the St. Clair and Lite Street reconstruction project in Point Edward starts on Tuesday, May 21.

Sarnia's MIG Engineering, which is overseeing the project, said the Lite Street access from Front Street will be opened for local traffic only and the current Helena Street access will be closed.

The temporary change will be in effect until Friday, May 24, 2024 to support construction activities occurring at the Helena Street intersection.

Lite Street access from Helena Street will be closed just south of the north entrance to the LCBO.

Access from St. Clair Street near Bridge Street will remain open to local traffic.

After completion of the Helena Street intersection construction work, the current traffic control plan will be reinstated, which includes the road access closure of Lite Street from Front Street, and local traffic access will be provided from Helena Street.

The $6 million reconstruction of St. Clair and Lite Streets started in April.

Chief Administrative Officer Jim Burns said the roads will be totally rebuilt between Front Street and Michigan Avenue.
