11th annual Pizzafest to get underway

An annual family-friendly tradition in Petrolia is promising delicious, cheesy slices of pizza at Victoria Park this weekend.

The 11th annual Petrolia Pizzafest will be held on Saturday, June 1, from 12 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Admission is free, and pizza will be sold for $2.50 per slice.

Pizza vendors include Bud's Family Pizza, Domino's Pizza, Godfathers Pizza, Johnny G's Premium Pizza, Pizza Hut, Petrolia Pizza & Subs, and Wise Guys Pizza.

“This is a great opportunity for families to gather in Victoria Park and enjoy some pizza and some fun and games too,” said Director of Parks, Recreation and Facilities Julie Bullock.

Bouncy castles and games will be set up for children to enjoy. There will also be live music throughout the day, and a beer garden.

The town said a Service Club BBQ and food truck will also be at the event, and Petrolia Scouting will offer freezies and ice cream.

“These events are not possible without a tremendous team of volunteers, we are so grateful to the Community Services Advisory Committee, our Service Clubs, businesses, and our community members that step up year after year to support our community events and activities,” said Marketing and Special Events Associate Thera Wagner.

Last year, more than 6,700 slices were sold. Proceeds from the 10th annual Pizzafest were later presented to the Petrolia Community Fund during a council meeting.
