Sarnia food truck festival returns for second year

The Savoury Sarnia Food Truck Festival will roll into the Hiawatha Horse Park and Entertainment Centre for its second year on Friday.

The event, which is hosted by Gateway Casinos and Hiawatha, will be held from 4:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.

Gateway Casino's Guest Services Manager Stephanie McLean said there will be eight food trucks this year, a jump from the four they had last year.

"We have quite the plethora of variety for the food trucks this year," she said. "[For] entertainment this year we have Joan Spalding, the first lady of Bluewater country, she'll be performing at 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. and then we have Colt Mclauchlin from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m."

The food trucks attending the event are Match on the Move, Truckin' Mamas on the Run, Ice Cream Lady, OMG Poutine, Big Daddy's Chip Truck, All Fired Up, Captain Mark's Fish and Chips, and Bluewater Gourmet Catering.

McLean said the event received a lot of positive feedback.

"The only thing we kind of lacked was we weren't expecting the crowd we had last year, so we could've probably used more food trucks," she said.

Mclean hopes to continue to have events like this each year.

"I think what we're going to be doing moving forward is hopefully be able to gain ground and improve every year and make them better and better," she said.

The event is free but donations will be accepted for local charities.

Even though it is an outdoor event, organizers are asking attendees to leave pets at home.
