High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

The Sarnia Police Service (SPS) is hosting a "shred-it" event in the Canadian Tire parking lot at Lambton Mall on Saturday, June 15.The purpose of the annual event is to help residents avoid identity theft."With identity theft and other misuse of people's personal information on the rise, it's more important than ever that we safeguard and/or securely dispose of our personal documents," SPS said in a social media post.The event is being held from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.Only personal documents will be collected, not business materials or magazines.Donations will be collected for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.
