Over 50 building permits were issued by the City of Sarnia last month, up from 30 issued in April.
May's 53 permits, valued at just over $ 7 million, bring the year-to-date total to over $29.6 million.
The monthly stats include a $2 million permit for demolition and renovations at Bluewater Health's Norman Street site including a new sprinkler riser, and permits for seven swimming pools.
There were four permits issued for single-family homes in Sarnia last month, bringing the five month total to eight.
