After a few stints as interim Chief Executive Officer [CEO] of the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership [SLEP], Matthew Slotwinski has been officially appointed to the position.
SLEP Acting Chair and Board Director Adrienne Lee announced Slotwinski's permanent position on Thursday, June 20.
"Matthew’s proven track record and dedication to economic development make him the ideal leader to steer our organization toward continued success and growth," said Lee. "His vision aligns perfectly with our mission to enhance the economic vitality of Sarnia-Lambton.”
Lee said Slotwinski brings over 13 years of dedicated service and extensive experience with SLEP to the role.
She said he has helped the Sarnia-Lambton Hybrid Chemistry Cluster, Ontario’s Hydrogen Hub, and Sarnia-Lambton Energy and Chemistry Cluster gain international recognition, attracting new investment and employment to this area.
He also filled in as interim CEO in 2017, after George Mallay retired from 21 years at the helm.
Slotwinski most recently served as SLEP's vice president of economic development.
“I’m energized by the potential that exists across Sarnia-Lambton for economic growth, diversification, and innovation," Slotwinski said. "There is an opportunity for SLEP to take on a heightened leadership role in advancing transformational economic opportunity for the Sarnia-Lambton area, its industry, its entrepreneurs and its workforce, and I’m looking forward to the challenge of building on the great work of the SLEP team in collaboration with our partner stakeholders and municipalities."
Slotwinski graduated from the University of Western Ontario’s Master of Public Administration (MPA) program after completing his Bachelor of Commerce (BComm) undergraduate degree at the University of Guelph, specializing in Public Management.
He has obtained a Certificate in Economic Development from the University of Waterloo and Economic Developers Associations of Canada and was named one of North America’s Top 50 Economic Developers (2021) by Consultant Connect.
