Plympton-Wyoming buys London Line property

The Town of Plympton-Wyoming has purchased an approximately 18-acre property in Reece’s Corners for just over $2 million to boost economic growth and expand community services.

The property is located near the intersection of London Line and Oil Heritage Road, close to Highway 402. The site includes a commercial plaza along with open space and bush land.

“This is an excellent opportunity for the town to attract commercial development, there are four vacant commercial units the town would like to explore filling,” said Mayor Gary Atkinson in a statement.

Chief Administrative Officer Adam Sobanski said the town had been looking for available property in the Reece's Corners area for a number of years when this site recently became available.

"We noticed that there has not been a lot of investment in the Reece's Corners [area] or Town of Plympton-Wyoming recently so we've purchased it in hopes that we could work with local investors to encourage economic development opportunities in that area," Sobanski said. "Additionally, we're also looking at the potential of increasing our community services offerings."

Sobanski said the scope of potential community services for this property has not yet been finalized.

"Initially, we started looking for lands for the Public Works garage and during that investigation, we came across this property which has much more potential than just for a Public Works garage," he said. "That is why we are not only looking at the potential of community services but the potential for investment and economic development opportunity."

Those with lease inquiries regarding the vacant units are asked to reach out to Sobanski by calling the municipality at 519-845-3939.
