Leadership transition underway at Sarnia-Lambton United Way

A leadership transition is officially underway at the United Way of Sarnia-Lambton.

Dave Brown, who will retire in July 2025 after 40 years at the helm, will spend the next year as the associate director as Pamela Bodkin moves into his executive director position.

"I will be working on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays for the next 12 months," said Brown. "It's going to be something that I'm not used to, but I'm very much looking forward to."

Bodkin joined the local organization in 1991.

"She's our finance and community investment director. She's done the Day of Caring for decades. She's no stranger to the agencies and to a lot of our volunteers," Brown said.

The 2024 fundraising campaign officially kicks off on September 17.

"Planning is well underway for this year's campaign, in fact, we've already had a number of fundraising events," he said. "We're actually a little bit ahead of last year's pace, so I think things are going to line up for a good campaign this fall."

However, the fundraising target has yet to be announced.

"The board of directors always decides what the goal is going to be at our June board meeting, which we've had. We typically keep that confidential until about a month before the campaign kicks off," Brown said.

In addition to the leadership change, Ryan Doyle will be welcomed as the director of resource development and communications later this month.
