Unresponsive child pulled from Sarnia swimming pool

Sarnia police say a four-year-old child is in critical condition after drowning in a swimming pool in the city's north end.

City police were called at approximately 3 p.m. on July 3 about a child missing from a residence in the area of Hillcrest Drive and Rutherglen Drive.

Sarnia Fire and Rescue Services was later called to help with the search.

Unfortunately, the child was found in a swimming pool on the property without vital signs.

During the emergent situation, several intersections along Indian Road were temporarily closed to allow for the ambulance's safe and expedient transport.

The child was transferred to the Pediatric Critical Care Unit.

Police conducted an investigation and said no criminal charges are pending.
