Sarnia Fire and Rescue responded to a call involving two parked vehicles in a driveway just before 4 a.m. Sunday, on Telfer Road near Confederation Line.
Fire crews were quickly able to extinguish the fire but there was extensive damage to the vehicles.
Sarnia Fire and Rescue said no one was home at the time and no injuries were reported.
SPS Board Chair Kelly Ash said the decision followed discussions with Acting Chief Mike Federico and aligns with practices at other police services.
