'Cool cars' showcased at Canatara to support Pathways

Hundreds of classic cars and interesting vehicles will be on display at Canatara Park on Thursday, August 1, for the Hot Night, Cool Cars event.

The Sarnia Street Machines will host the long-standing tradition in support of Pathways Health Centre for Children.

Street Machines President Kip McMillan said admissions will be by donation. Pathways will also have a food tent set up at the park.

"Any little bit helps," he said. "The best part about Pathways is that every dollar stays in Sarnia."

The event will include 50/50 draws and live music. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

Pre-registration is not required.

"We usually see about 300 to 400 cars. We often get people who travel in from out of town and a lot of people enjoy a good evening cruising," said McMillan. "Bring anything and everything... if you have to push it [or] pull it. I want tuner cars, classic cars, show cars, and cars you're working on. I want everything at this show! There are so many cars in the Sarnia-Lambton area that are hidden gems that people don't see often and I'd love to see them come out."

While there is a chance of precipitation in the forecast, the event will go ahead rain or shine.

This year's event will also pay tribute to a former member who passed away, Darcy Mackay. His wife, Debbie, will be honoured as well.

"We're having his GTO at the site," said McMillan.

They're also hoping to have a pickup truck from the TV show "The Trades" on-site as well.

The fundraiser will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.
