Emergency crews respond to call in St. Clair River

Point Edward Fire and Rescue were searching the St. Clair River Thursday morning.

The department was called to an area underneath the Blue Water Bridge at about 7 a.m. for a water rescue. Officials said a body was recovered at about 7:25 a.m.

Lambton EMS and Lambton OPP Marine Units also responded, as well as Sarnia Fire and Rescue.

Officials said Lambton OPP have taken over the investigation.

Police told Sarnia News Today that further information would not be released.

The Blue Water Bridge was closed in both directions for about 90 minutes Thursday morning and reopened to traffic just before 8:30 a.m.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) said it was due to an emergent situation.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
