Firefighters were called to an apartment at the intersection of London Road and East Street at approximately 6:15 a.m.
One cat died from its injuries.
Information on the cause or a damage estimate were not immediately available.
Police said on May 15, at approximately 1:10 a.m., the pair entered the establishment and stole an undetermined amount of goods.
