The City of Sarnia has removed a property in Bright's Grove from its list of non-prohibited encampment locations.
The change was announced in a social media post on Wednesday.
"There has been a change to the non-prohibited encampment areas as defined by the Encampment Response Protocol," the update said. "Due to an existing lease agreement on the lands across the road to the south of Mike Weir Park, the Encampment Response Protocol would not apply to this property. These lands would not be considered as non-prohibited for encampments as a result. We apologize for any confusion the inclusion of this area may have caused."
The land had been included in a list released late last week of properties encampments could be located, after it was requested by city council.
Sections of municipally owned land -- in the research park, the 402 Business Park and multiple parcels along London Line near Modeland Road -- continue to fit specific setbacks.
The city has referred to the protocol as a "living document" that will continue to evolve over time.
