Thunderstorms bring down trees and power lines

A line of thunderstorms moved through Sarnia-Lambton Tuesday evening, resulting in downed trees and power lines.

Bluewater Power crews responded to several outages affecting a total of over 4,800 customers in Sarnia and Point Edward. All power was restored by just before 10:30 p.m.

Hydro One was reporting scattered outages Wednesday morning in Mooretown and Sombra while repairs and cleanup continued.

A severe thunderstorm warning was posted for Sarnia-Lambton at the time, advising of the potential for wind gusts of up to 100 kilometres per hour and toonie-sized hail.

With the potential for more thunderstorms Wednesday, Hydro One is asking customers to prepare for possible outages.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
