Sting deal depth defenceman to Generals

The Sarnia Sting have traded hard-hitting defenceman Tyler O'Toole to the Oshawa Generals in exchange for an 8th round pick in the 2025 OHL Priority Selection.

O'Toole was originally selected by the Sting in the 10th round of the 2022 draft.

He played in eight games for the Sting this past season, with no points, 14 penalty minutes and a minus-4 rating.

He also played with the Georgetown Raiders and Mississauga Chargers of the OJHL.

Sting General Manager Dylan Seca commented on the trade.

"Tyler was able to come in and get some OHL experience last season," said Seca. "We're deep on the back end and feel this trade provides him the opportunity to play more. We wish Tyler well."

The Sting will play five preseason games, including on Friday, September 6 in Windsor and at home to Flint on Saturday, September 7.

The regular season kicks off Friday, September 27 against the Spitfires at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.
