Lambton Wildlife spokesperson Roberta Buchanan is excited to welcome a researcher and author to Sarnia to discuss the often misconceived mammals, bats.
Dr. Brock Fenton will discuss his book, A Miscellany of Bats, at the Sarnia Library Theatre on September 18.
"He's a world-renowned bat researcher, he's researched bats all over the world," said Buchanan.
As someone who's "fascinated" with bats, Buchanan said she had received Fenton's book as a Christmas gift and reached out to him after learning he resides in the London area.
"He's a professor at Western University and so I emailed him and asked if he would come and speak and he said yes," Buchanan said
She noted how bats play an integral role in ecosystems around the world, with various species living in Ontario.
"They're so important and yet so many people don't really know a lot about them," she said.
Buchanan said the special event will begin at 7 p.m. with a presentation by Fenton.
"Then it will move into questions and answers," Buchanan said. "It will be family-friendly and with Halloween coming up, it'll be the perfect fit."
Buchanan said the event is free and open to the public.
