Two Petrolia crosswalks vandalized

The Town of Petrolia is reporting vandalism on two of its crosswalks overnight Saturday.

In a statement it said the crosswalks are a public symbol of acceptance, inclusion and community.

Mayor Brad Loosely said the vandalism will not be tolerated.

"Hate has no home in Petrolia. As we focus on inclusivity and on acceptance of all, we will not allow this discriminatory visual to deter the Town from welcoming diversity and fostering equality," he said.

Loosely added the crosswalks will be repainted as soon as possible.

The town has notified Lambton OPP and anyone with information is asked to contact them at 1-888-310-1122.

*The town later posted to Facebook, thanking volunteers and Public Works crews for restoring the vandalized crosswalks.
