Lambton Shores officials and OPP are preparing for a spike in vehicle traffic this week.
The municipality said it's aware of an unsanctioned car rally being planned in the Grand Bend area on Friday, September 27 and Saturday, September 28.
In a message on the municipality's website, it said officials have been working closely with Lambton OPP to implement measures to ensure resident and visitor safety, while maintaining compliance with all laws and local bylaws.
"As part of the planning efforts to manage the unsanctioned event, there will be an increased police presence in the area throughout the duration of the event. Lambton OPP will be actively monitoring the situation and taking appropriate action as needed to prevent unsafe or unlawful activities," read the statement.
In an effort to manage traffic flow and safety, the statement also indicated Lambton Shores is prepared to implement temporary road closures, detours, and other traffic calming measures.
"These temporary measures are intended to deter unsanctioned activities and minimize disruptions to local businesses and residents, while supporting the safety of everyone in the community."
Further updates will be shared with the public through the municipal website and social media.
