The Sarnia Police Service's Canine Unit helped track down a suspect, accused of trying to steal from a hydro compound on Confederation Street.
Police were notified on Friday morning after a man activated the alarms and was seen by the monitoring company on the cameras.
Once police arrived in the area, the accused allegedly tried to flee and ran to a dark area where officers lost sight of him.
Police dog Vader, along with his handler, eventually found the suspect hiding nearby.
Officers seized tools and copper wiring which they said the subject was in the process of stealing.
A 39-year-old man has been charged with break and enter to a place to commit an indictable offence
He was held for a bail hearing.
