Sting lose to defending Memorial Cup Champ Saginaw

The Sarnia Sting got firsthand experience as to why Saginaw is the defending Memorial Cup Champion.

They ended up taking on the Spirit Saturday night on the road but ended up losing 6-1.

Sarnia opened the scoring in the first with Kaeden Johnston continuing his strong start to the season, tallying his third of the year. Zach Filak got the only assist on the play.

Saginaw forward Liam Storch tied up the game near the end of the period.

The Spirit added two more goals in the second. Joey Willis got his first followed by Ethan Hay with his first.

Michael Misa added his sixth and seventh of the year in the third before Lincoln Moore scored his first to cap off the scoring.

Sarnia are now 1-1-0-0 on the season, while Saginaw improves its record to 2-0-1-0.

The Sting's next game is on Friday, Oct. 4, at home against Saginaw.
