UPDATE: No injuries in motel fire

Sarnia fire officials say careless smoking caused a fire to spark Tuesday morning at the Bluewater Motel on London Line.

Members of the Sarnia Police Service, Sarnia Fire Rescue and Lambton EMS responded to the building just after 9:30 a.m. for reports of a structure fire.

Public Education Officer Mike Otis said the damage was contained to one unit as firefighters were quick to prevent the flames from spreading to adjacent units.

Otis said the damage estimate is approximately $50,000.
