Stolen trailer recovered in St. Clair Township traffic stop

Two Chatham-Kent residents were arrested in a traffic stop Tuesday night after they were seen with a trailer that was allegedly stolen nearly one year ago. 

Lambton OPP initiated the traffic stop just after 11 p.m. on Kimball Road in St. Clair Township.

Police discovered the trailer was reported stolen from Lakeshore on October 15, 2023.

A 48-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman were charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession of a schedule one substance-fentanyl.

The man was also charged with using plate not authorized for vehicle, possessing more than one licence, drawing trailer- no plate and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

Meanwhile, the woman was also charged with two counts possession of a schedule one substance- methamphetamine and cocaine.

Both accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in Sarnia court on November 13.
