Election day at Aamjiwnaang First Nation

Members of Aamjiwnaang First Nation will elect a new band council on Friday, October 18.

There are 30 people running for one of nine councillor positions.

All Aamjiwnaang members, 18-years-old and up, whether they live at the First Nation community or not, are eligible to vote.

The polling station at the Maawn Doosh Gumig Community Centre will be open from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m., with results to be declared immediately afterwards.

Janelle Nahmabin (Mskwaanakwod Kwe) was acclaimed chief in September for the upcoming two-year term.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
