Impaired driver crashes into car, damages home

The Sarnia Police Service arrested one man for impaired driving following a crash early Sunday morning.

Police responded to the crash just before 1:40 a.m. in the area of Winchester Crescent and Wiltshire Drive. Officers discovered a white truck had collided with a parked vehicle in a driveway of a home on Winchester Crescent.

Police said the force of the collision pushed the parked vehicle through the garage of the residence.

Officers observed the man trying to exit the truck through the passenger door. He was allegedly displaying signs of intoxication and police saw beverage containers in clear view on the floor of the vehicle.

Both the driver and occupants of the home were not injured. The residents did have to leave the home while its structural integrity was assessed.

The 41-year-old Sarnia driver was taken to the Sarnia police station where he tested twice over the legal limit.

He was released from police custody with an undertaking.
