Sting sign Simpson to OHL scholarship

The Sarnia Sting have signed 16-year-old forward Ryder Simpson to an Ontario Hockey League Scholarship and Development Agreement.

Simpson was the Sting's 4th round pick, 81st overall, in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection.

The Guelph native tallied 12 goals and 11 assists in 33 games last season with the Guelph Jr. Gryphons U16 AAA team.

He has three points in four games so far this season with the Cambridge Redhawks of the GOJHL.

In a news release, Sting General Manager Dylan Seca commented on Simpson's signing.

"Ryder is a competitive player who embodies all the qualities of being a Sting," said Seca. "He’s a hard worker, skates well, plays with a ton of jam and possesses elite character. He’s a player who will continue his development with Cambridge of the GOJHL and be available as an affiliate player throughout the season."

Simpson was set to make his Sting debut on Wednesday night against the Owen Sound Attack.
