Man escapes knife attack

A 33-year-old man is charged in an assault Thursday morning in Sarnia.

City police were called to a disturbance at a home on Berkshire Road at around 8:20 a.m.

It's alleged a man in his early 50s was attacked by a man armed with a knife and struck multiple times. Police said the victim managed to escape the home and call for help.

He was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Darren Maillet was arrested shortly after and charged with assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm.

He was remanded into custody.

The Sarnia Police Criminal Investigations Division is handling the case.
