Damage in Marthaville fire pegged at $175K

Damage in a fire Friday in Marthaville is estimated at $175,000.

The Petrolia and North Enniskillen Fire Department responded to a barn fire on Prince Street.

Fire Chief Rick Cousins said when crews arrived on scene, an over 100-year-old barn was fully engulfed.  He said the fast moving, wind driven fire caused significant damage.

A double detached garage was also destroyed, and a neighbours garage sustained heat damage to its vinyl siding.

Cousins said with assistance from the Wyoming Fire Department, crews were able to save the family home and a couple of garages.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the blaze is undetermined.
