UPDATE: Two dead in boating crash in Walpole Island First Nation

Two people have died in a single-vessel boating collision on Saturday.

Lambton County OPP, Joint Rescue Coordination Centre Trenton, and United States Coast Guard, responded to the crash on Pocket Bay at Walpole Island First Nation just before 6 p.m.

Two individuals were pronounced dead on the scene, a 39-year-old from Chatham, and a 53-year-old from Stoney Point. Their identities have not been released.

Members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement also responded.

Police were asking members of the public to avoid the area as the investigation continues.
