Winter wear collection underway at HUB International

HUB International has kicked off its annual winter wear collection drive.

Social Committee Coordinator Chassiti Westover said donations can be brought to the 265 Exmouth Street location until Friday, November 29.

"Every year it gets bigger and bigger," said Westover. "Last year was exceptional and we had a lot of donations. This year, we're a little bit lacking on the donations, but we have quite a bit that has come in."

She asks for donations to be dropped off during business hours, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

"[We're looking for] hats, mitts, scarves, earmuffs, socks. We do take jackets and coats... sweaters as well. Anything large like that is being donated to the shelter on Confederation Street and River City [Vineyard]," Westover said.

Small items will be placed outside of a few locations during the first week of December.

"We wrap a ribbon around them with a little note, for anybody that chooses to take one, and we're going to be hanging them off the tree out in front of our business at HUB International, as well as the Sarnia Library and Lawrence House. If you're feeling cold and you need a hat, or a scarf, it's there and accessible to anyone."
