Woman sexually assaulted by naked break-in suspect

Sarnia police are looking for a suspect after a disturbing incident early Tuesday morning.

At around 3 a.m., police said a man broke into a residence on Kathleen Avenue and stood naked beside a sleeping woman while holding a knife.

A struggle ensued, and the victim was sexually assaulted but did not require medical attention.

The suspect eventually dropped the knife and fled.

Officers are searching for a white male in his 20s, with a bald head, and a distinctive tattoo on the right side of his body.

Members of the Criminal Investigations Branch, Identification Branch, and General Patrol processed the scene, and are canvassing the area for any potential witnesses or video surveillance.

Sarnia police are asking anyone in the area of East Street, Wellington Street, Walnut Avenue South, and Cherry Drive with dash cam or video surveillance to contact Det. Reg Musclow at 519-344-8861 extension 6198.

Residents can expect increased police patrol presence in the neighbourhood, and additional information will be provided when it becomes available.

We're being asked to ensure residences are secure report any suspicious activity to police.
