Drugs, bear spray confiscated from Sarnia residence

The Sarnia Police Service's Major Case Action Team (MCAT) is reporting the seizure of drugs, cash, and bear spray from a Victoria Street home.

On Monday, at around 7:15 p.m., officers with the Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant and detained eight people.

During a search, police found another man who was hiding.

Officers confiscated 3.19 grams of methamphetamine, 14.04 grams of cocaine, $12,189 in Canadian currency, $51 in U.S. currency, and bear spray.

Police said the estimated street value of the seized drugs is $1,873.

Merhawi Soloman, 18, and a 17-year-old male, both from Hamilton, were held for bail and charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Police said a 52-year-old Sarnia man was also arrested for breaching two conditions of a release order.

MCAT are still investigating and further arrests are possible.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
