UPDATE: Lambton College student dead in Sarnia stabbing

Police have released more information about the victim who died in an early morning stabbing in downtown Sarnia Sunday.

The Sarnia Police Service was called to a rooming house on Queen Street near Talfourd Street just before 5 a.m. for a report of a stabbing.

It's reported two roommates got into a fight with one stabbing the other multiple times.

As a result, 36-year-old Crossley Hunter was arrested and has since been charged with second-degree murder.

Hunter appeared by video before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody. His next court appearance will be by video on Friday.

On Tuesday, police said a post-mortem examination was completed and the deceased was identified as 22-year-old Gurasis Singh of India, an international student studying business at Lambton College.

"Despite an arrest having been made, this complex investigation is ongoing," said SPS Chief Derek Davis. "The Sarnia Police Criminal Investigations Division continues to gather all available evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding this criminal act and what, if any, motive may have existed that led to the murder of this young man. At this time, we do not believe this crime to be racially motivated."

Police are not seeking any other suspects and there is no concern for the public's safety.
