Police give home security tips after break and enters

Sarnia police are investigating two break and enters that happened within two kilometres of each other, in the city's north end.

Police said they were called to homes on Wespencer Gate and Huron Shores Drive on Friday, December 20.

In both cases, the suspects gained entry by smashing a pane of glass at the rear of the homes.

One home was ransacked as thieves searched for valuables.

In the other, it is believed the returning homeowners scared off the intruders before significant theft occurred.

A black crossover-style SUV was noticeably suspicious in the area of one of the incidents.

Police are reminding residents to take extra precautions during the holiday season, as certain factors—such as snow accumulation—can signal an unoccupied home, making it a target for thieves.

Anyone who sees suspicious activity is asked to call the Sarnia Police Service at 519-344-8861.
