Service Canada will be hosting drop-ins at some rural Lambton County libraries in early 2025.
A citizen services specialist will be available at the Alvinston, Watford, Forest, Corunna, Wyoming and Thedford locations in January and February.
The representative will be able to help people with their applications for Service Canada programs and benefits, including Employment Insurance, Social Insurance Numbers, personal access codes for My Service Canada accounts, Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security, Canadian Dental Care Plan, and other Government of Canada programs and services.
“Through this collaboration with Service Canada, we aim to provide enhanced access to essential government services for rural communities in Lambton County,” said Adrianne Lebert, Public Services Coordinator – Adult Programs and Outreach at Lambton County Library.
Assistance will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis, and no pre-registration is required.
Those looking for help are asked to bring a valid piece of government-issued identification and a Social Insurance Number (SIN).
To obtain a Social Insurance Number, clients will need a birth certificate or citizenship document, a government-issued identification, and name linking document such as a marriage certificate.
