A 33-year-old inmate at the Sarnia Jail has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of his 51-year-old cellmate.
Sarnia police were called at 3:42 a.m. on Wednesday about an inmate who was found unresponsive in their cell.
Emergency crews were quick to respond but the inmate was pronounced dead.
Sarnia police have identified the deceased as Douglas Cutbush of Sarnia.
Investigators said Cutbush's death was determined to be a homicide. As a result, his cellmate, Devin Gary Fentie of Sarnia, was charged.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
An autopsy is scheduled to take place on January 9.
