Opium pods, heroin seized from Canada-bound commercial carrier

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is working with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) after border officers at the Blue Water Bridge seized suspected opium pods and heroin from a tractor-trailer entering Canada.

The CBSA confirmed to Sarnia News Today that a commercial carrier was intercepted on December 30, 2024.

CBSA officers seized 6.27 kilograms of suspected opium pods, 30 grams of suspected heroin, and two vials of suspected steroids.

An individual was arrested and the items seized were handed over to the RCMP, read an emailed statement from CBSA.

No other details were released as the investigation is ongoing.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
