Crash on Modeland Road knocks down light pole

A crash between a car and a transport truck closed a portion of Modeland Road for several hours on Monday afternoon.

At around 2:45 p.m., Sarnia police were called to the crash near Highway 402.

Police said a light standard was knocked over, blocking southbound traffic.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

One of the drivers was charged under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance act for operating a motor vehicle with no insurance.

The area reopened to traffic shortly before 5:30 p.m.

Use of force by Sarnia police steady year over year

According to a report presented to the Sarnia Police Service Board late last month, 99.8 percent of the calls in 2024 were without any use of force, which is described as the use of a weapon on an individual.
