New Point Edward apartment building to welcome first residents in February

A new apartment tower on Venetian Boulevard in Point Edward remains on track to welcome its first residents in February.

Venetian Harbour Developments Inc. Developer/Owner Nick Salomone tells Sarnia News Today there have been no major issues with construction of the six storey building.

"The exterior is 99 per cent complete now and the trades are working on finishing the interior and I would say we're about 95 per cent complete [inside]," Salomone said. "[We're working on] carpet in the hallways, common area light fixtures, cleaning, making sure all of the fire protection systems are in place, the elevators, and we're expecting the furnishings for the common areas to start arriving in mid-January with the anticipation of early February occupancy."

Salomone said 35 per cent of the units have been leased since the application process opened just before Christmas.

"We had about 500 plus inquiries on the project since we began and I anticipate we should be 100 per cent leased up by late spring," said Salomone.

The building, with views of Bridgeview Marina and the Blue Water Bridge, includes 52 residential units.

Salomone said two bedroom, two bathroom, suites start at $2,599 a month plus utilities.

"We've got a few people moving in in February, but of the few people that have signed up, we're looking at March and April occupancy for the most part," he said. "But, I would imagine the lease up and fill up of the building would probably take us into June to be fully occupied."

Salomone said construction has been fairly smooth since the weather has cooperated this winter and there have been no major supply chain issues.
