Sarnia police arrest alleged voyeur with Windsor connection

Following a similar investigation by Windsor police, their counterparts in Sarnia have arrested a man suspected of taking inappropriate photos.

The Windsor incident occurred just before 3 a.m. on New Year's Day. Police were called to the Caesars Windsor area for a fight involving a man and two women. The women told police they had caught the man using his phone to take photos up their dresses.

Windsor police charged the 46-year-old Sarnia man with secretly recording a person for sexual purposes.

Sarnia police then began a parallel investigation following reports of similar instances locally, and learned that the same man had allegedly been to Lambton Mall on December 28, 2024.

Police said the man was secretly taking inappropriate photos of women at the mall, and they are trying to identify the women involved.

The man was arrested in Sarnia for two counts of voyeurism.

He was held for bail and eventually released by the Justice of the Peace.

The charges have not been proven in court. The man will respond to the charges in a Sarnia court on January 21.

Anyone with information, or who may have witnessed any incident, should call Sarnia Detective Constable Erik Ostenfeldt at (519) 344-8861, ext. 6254.
