OLG doles out third quarter payments to Point Edward, Sarnia

The Village of Point Edward has received $429,150 in its latest payment from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) for hosting Starlight Casino Point Edward.

The OLG recently issued third quarter payments to municipalities for hosting gaming centres.

Point Edward has received $1.3 million so far during this fiscal year, which spans from April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025.

“OLG’s Municipality Contribution Agreement payments help pave the way for Point Edward to build critical infrastructure and fund important programs that make a real difference for residents,” said Sarnia-Lambton MPP Bob Bailey in a statement. “Starlight Casino Point Edward supports numerous jobs and generates a great deal of economic activity that, in turn, improves the well-being of our local community.”

Point Edward's gaming site opened in April 2000, and the village has since received over $53 million in total.

Meanwhile, the City of Sarnia received $91,746 in its third quarter payment for hosting Gateway Casinos Sarnia.

So far, for this fiscal year, the city has received $300,583 in gaming revenue and nearly $28 million since the gaming site opened in May 1999.

The OLG said payments are made based on a formula consistently applied across all gaming sites in Ontario, using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site.
