UPDATE: Firefighters battle stubborn blaze at commercial property

The Office of the Fire Marshal will investigate the cause of a fire Friday night in Sarnia.

Sarnia Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire on Tecumseh Street near Rose Street at around 11 p.m.

Crews were met with heavy smoke and heat conditions in the commercial building.

In a post to Facebook, the fire department said crews had to force entry into two separate units, but were able to get the stubborn fire under control within the hour and damage was contained to the unit of origin.

The Facebook post said no injuries were reported. However, Sarnia Fire Public Education Officer Mike Otis told Sarnia News Today one firefighter was treated and released for an injury.

A damage estimate was not immediately available.
