UPDATE: Sarnia-Lambton in a deep freeze

Bitterly cold temperatures are expected to continue Tuesday night and Wednesday.

Environment Canada issued an extreme cold warning for Sarnia-Lambton on Tuesday. However, the warning ended Wednesday afternoon.

The national weather agency called for wind chill values near -30 C to as low as -35 C Tuesday night through Wednesday morning due to an arctic air mass.

The warning was in addition to a Cold Weather Alert posted by Lambton Public Health on Friday.

Residents were reminded to dress warmly and limit time outdoors.

Environment Canada said frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.

Temperatures were expected to rise slightly Wednesday afternoon, however, will remain below seasonal.

The average daytime high in Sarnia-Lambton for this time of year is -2 C.
