A math professor at Lambton College is throwing her hat in the political ring.
Candace Young has been named the NDP candidate for Sarnia-Lambton in the upcoming provincial election.
The Kettle and Stony Point First Nation member was officially named as the NDP candidate on Tuesday, January 28.
Young has been very active in her union local, OPSEU Local 125, having served as treasurer and, currently, as vice-president.
Young has also served as a board member and treasurer for the Sexual Assault Survivors’ Centre Sarnia-Lambton for 13 years.
Since 2017, she’s been a member of the UNDRIP (United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples) Working Group for the City of Sarnia.
She will face Conservative incumbent MPP Bob Bailey when voters head to the polls on February 27.
