Sleeping woman rescued from fire

Sarnia firefighters saved a woman who was asleep when a fire broke out early Friday morning in the area of Germain Street and Montcalm Avenue.

Public Education Officer Mike Otis said crews were called at 3:05 a.m.

"It looks like it was a garage fire that spread into the house," he said. "We had to battle back flames and there was zero visibility to get in there and rescue her. I think she was taken to hospital for precautions."
