Charge laid after gas line struck in St. Clair Twp. crash

A 50-year-old from Sarnia has been charged with careless driving in a two-vehicle crash that ruptured a gas line in St. Clair Township.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Petrolia Line and Mandaumin Road just after 7 a.m. on February 19.

Three people were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Repairs by Enbridge Gas were completed the following night and affected roads were closed to traffic for about 36 hours.

The accused is set to appear in the Provincial Offences Court in Sarnia at a later date.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
