Vader tracks down suspect

An alleged thief was tracked down with the help of Sarnia police K-9 Vader Sunday morning.

Shortly before 9 a.m., Sarnia police were called to a break and enter in progress on Churchill Line near Plank Road.

Officers arrived to find a man inside the fenced compound allegedly attempting to steal copper wire.

Once confronted, the suspect ran north across Plank Road in between buildings.

Police set up a perimeter and K-9 Vader was brought in to help track the suspect.

Less than 10 minutes later, police said the suspect was found by Vader hiding in tall brush and taken into custody.

During a search of the suspect police found a concealed knife and a number of break-in tools.

A 28-year-old Sarnia man is charged with break and enter, possession of break and enter instruments, possession of stolen property under $5,000, and carrying a concealed weapon.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
