North end, Bright's Grove break-ins believed to be connected

Sarnia police are investigating a string of break-ins in the city's north end and Bright's Grove after two more homes were broken into on March 14.

Police said one incident on Cathcart Boulevard, near Modeland Road in Sarnia, took place between 6 p.m. and 9:50 p.m.

Meanwhile, a home was also broken into on Stonebrook Road, in the Stoney Creek Subdivision in Bright's Grove, sometime between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Sarnia police said it's believed these two break-ins are connected to three others that are currently under investigation.

"All of the break and enters have occurred in a similar fashion," read a media release. "The thieves have attended these homes when the residence is unoccupied and smashed a rear window of the home to gain entry. In each instance, the homes have been ransacked looking for items of value."

Another common factor may be a black crossover-style SUV. Police said the suspicious vehicle was seen during a couple of the incidents.

Residents who live near the affected areas are asked to check their security cameras for anything that looks suspicious, such as a black sedan, individuals cutting across yards, or idling parked vehicles.

The other break and enter incidents took place on Moores Lane, Wespencer Gates, and Huron Shores Drive.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Cst. Fraser Moore of the Criminal Investigations Division at (519) 344-8861 extension 6236.
