Sting miss out on playoffs after loss to Sault Ste. Marie

The Sarnia Sting won't be playing playoff hockey this season.

They were in Sault. Ste Marie on Sunday for their last regular season game and lost 5-2. They needed a win to force a tiebreaker with the Owen Sound Attack.

It was Sault Ste. Marie goalie Landon Miller who made sure the Sting's season was done as he made 42 saves including 23 in the third period.

Sarnia got the start they were hoping for as James Barr scored just his second of the season over three minutes into the first period. Getting the assists were Zach Filak and Liam Beamish.

Despite outshooting Sault Ste. Marie, both teams would go into the first intermission tied as Noel Nordh scored for the Greyhounds.

The Sting once again outshot Sault Ste. Marie in the second period, however, the only goal was scored by the Greyhounds' Brodie McConnell-Barker.

The third period saw Sault Ste. Marie score three straight goals. They were scored by Travis Hayes, Brady R Smith, and Justin Cloutier.

Filak got the Sting back within three with his 14th of the season, however, that's as close as they would get.

Getting the assists on the Sting's last goal of the season were Lukas Fischer and Beckham Edwards.
