UPDATE: Injuries reported in early morning crash (gallery)

A serious crash Wednesday morning closed a section of the Highway 402 in Sarnia.

Lambton OPP said two tractor-trailers collided shortly after 3 a.m. on the westbound highway.

The driver and passenger of one of the tractor-trailers were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The westbound Highway 402 was closed between Indian Road and Christina Street. The eastbound lanes were also closed between Indian Road and Front Street to facilitate the removal of vehicles and cleanup.

OPP said the eastbound lanes reopened shortly after 1 p.m., but the westbound lanes are expected to remain closed for several hours.

Sarnia Fire Rescue and Lambton EMS also responded.

The investigation is ongoing. Lambton OPP said anyone with information about the crash or with dashcam footage is asked to contact police at 1-888-310-1122.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
